Why We Do Them:
The Antenatal Screening Panel is designed to ensure the health of both the mother and the developing baby during pregnancy. Blood type and Rh factor testing determine compatibility and prevent Rh incompatibility issues. CBC monitors the mother’s overall health and detects conditions like anemia. Urinalysis helps identify urinary tract infections or preeclampsia. The Glucose Tolerance Test screens for gestational diabetes, which can affect both mother and baby. Hepatitis B and C, syphilis, and HIV screenings are crucial for preventing transmission of infections. Rubella immunity testing checks for protection against rubella, which can cause birth defects. Ultrasound scans provide a detailed view of fetal development and detect any potential abnormalities. Down syndrome screening evaluates the risk of chromosomal abnormalities, allowing for early intervention and management if needed.
